About me

I have been working in the mental health field as a therapist for thirty years.  I offer individual counselling and art therapy.  Sessions are currently available virtually (video or telephone) in British Columbia and across Canada.

An artist and nature enthusiast, I find creative and nature-based endeavours to be grounding and healing.  My approach includes a down-to-earth, genuine way of being, offering respect and inviting curiosity, compassion, self-reflection, and creativity.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (#20066), a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (#2132), and a Registered Art Therapist with the Canadian Art Therapy Association (#365-R-23)

Mental Health and Wellness Counselling may be eligible for Health Benefits Coverage.  Check with your insurance provider.  I am a Registered Provider with the First Nations Health Authority.

I Walk Alongside

I believe in every individual's capacity to be in the best position to be the expert on themselves.

I practice in a way that respects where a person is at.  Together we explore strengths, challenges, and goals.  Individualized support aims to increase awareness and understanding of emotions, to build confidence, capacity, and self-compassion; this process supports well-being and improved communication.  As a counselling therapist I offer knowledge in a number of mental health and wellness areas.  I walk alongside, I listen, attend to strengths, and I offer opportunities for perspective and growth.

In my years of practice I have worked with people of all ages living with a range of concerns, including early developmental impacts of trauma.  I have supported individuals as they explore their experiences and navigate their way through challenges.  I aim to hear and appreciate the context in which each individual lives, and the resiliencies and challenges that contribute to the lived experience.

integrated approach

I believe that my greatest gifts to offer are genuineness and a spirit of compassion, curiosity, humour, and wonder.  I know a little of what it is to struggle with the stressors and challenges of life.  Having another person with whom to sit in that place of discomfort is a gift.  Sometimes that support can come in the form of family and friends; occasionally someone from outside may be vital...

My approach involves an integration of mindfulness-based body-oriented cognitive behaviour therapy.  Informed by a family systems and emotionally focused perspective, and grounded in attachment theory, I often look to incorporate art, creative expression, and nature to support and guide the process of therapy.

Achieving Harmony

Within the therapeutic relationship, individuals can develop new insights, identify and work toward goals, and create a healthy connection with themselves and with others.  Changing your relationship with the past happens in the present moment.

Nurturing Resilience

As living beings, we access what we need to survive, to heal, and to thrive.

Regardless of early experiences and life circumstances, every human has a core that strives toward that sense of aliveness and connection.
